Pepper co-founder Beckii Flint was recently consulted by The Telegraph for an in-depth look at the growing world of child influencers in the UK.

The feature, “The children filming their lives for six-figure sums”, explores how young creators are building huge online audiences and, in some cases, turning their social media presence into highly lucrative careers through brand partnerships.

Drawing on her experience both as Pepper’s co-founder and as a former child creator herself, Beckii shared insight into how the commercial side of the creator economy works.

She explained that a creator with around 10,000 followers could command approximately £700 for a brand post, depending on the platform and partnership, while fees can rise significantly as creators build larger audiences or establish authority within a particular niche.

The article also looks beyond the numbers, exploring the responsibilities that come with children building careers online. It considers how young creators balance school, friendships and everyday life with content creation, as well as the role of parents, managers, brands and agencies in protecting their interests.

It’s an area particularly important to us at Pepper. The article highlights our Responsible Kidfluence Code, created to establish clearer standards for working with influencers under 18 and to help ensure the welfare of young creators remains central to brand partnerships.

Beckii also spoke about the wider debate surrounding young people's access to social media and the challenge of regulating a creator economy that operates across borders. With young creators often attracting global audiences, different rules between countries add another layer of complexity for creators, families, platforms and brands.

As the creator economy continues to grow, the feature is an important look at both the opportunities available to the next generation of creators and the responsibility the industry has to make sure they can access those opportunities safely.
